Your volunteer assignment in Rwanda - encounters, hope and change
- "The local people showed me how valuable community, solidarity and forgiveness are - values that I want to incorporate into my future work (and also in my private life)." - Steffi, volunteer at Solace Ministries
As a volunteer at Solace Ministries, you will be part of an organization that has been giving hope for over 30 years. You will support the team in the areas of sponsorship and community development, for example by visiting project communities, looking after sponsored children or working on funding projects.
Solace Ministries was founded in December 1994 - shortly after the genocide against the Tutsi. Since then, the Christian organization has accompanied survivors on their way back to a self-determined life. In 60 village communities throughout the country, Solace Ministries supports over 8,000 families, mainly widows and orphans, by providing psychosocial support, income generation and educational opportunities.
As a volunteer, you will not only gain insights into the daily project work, but also into life after the genocide and the strength of the people to look forward despite everything.
