Right to special care and support in the event of disability

Every child has the right to special support in the event of a disability.

Children with a physical, mental or intellectual disability should be able to lead a good and dignified life. They should be able to be independent and actively participate in society. They therefore have the right to receive special help. The help should be tailored to their situation and also take into account how their parents or the people who look after them are doing. This should enable children with disabilities to learn well, recover, receive medical treatment and later learn a profession.

In the center Qendra Drita e Shpresëswhich means "Light of Hope Center", children with disabilities receive special support. Experts such as speech therapists, physiotherapists and psychologists work together there to give each child exactly the help they need. For example, the children learn to speak better, move around and become more independent. This enables them to do well at school or in everyday life - and later learn a profession.

But the support also goes to the families: the parents receive advice and are involved in the children's therapies. They learn how they can strengthen and support their child. This not only helps the children, but also the adults who look after them. They feel safer and know that their child is in good hands.

In this way, the center ensures that children with disabilities can lead a dignified and independent life - with support, therapy and a strengthening environment in which they are needed and respected.
