- You will be regularly informed about the progress of the project
Secure nutrition
More than 820 million people worldwide go hungry. 150 million of these are children in Africa. Due to global crises and conflicts, the number of starving people is increasing at an alarming rate.
Our goal: improving and securing the food situation in our projects in Africa and Eastern Europe
ora Kinderhilfe working for food security:
- Funding for regular school meals and free meals in our children's centers
- Support for nutrition centers
- Distribution of food parcels
- Support in setting up livestock farms and distributing seeds

Promoting education
Education is a human right. Over 260 million children between the ages of 6 and 17 stay away from school every day. They do not have the opportunity to attend school. According to UNESCO, more than 770 million adults are considered illiterate. Two thirds of them are women. They often have no choice but to earn a living as day laborers or to keep their heads above water by providing sexual services.
Our goal: to give girls and boys prospects for the future with a good education.
ora Kinderhilfe working for education:
- Construction and renovation of schools
- Financing of school materials for all children
- Payment of school fees and the cost of school uniforms
- Literacy courses for adults
- Adult education on sustainable agriculture, housekeeping, language and sewing courses

Maintain health
Healthy well-being is closely linked to medical care. However, doctors and hospitals are often far away. High transportation costs and the cost of the actual treatment prevent many people from visiting medical professionals for prophylaxis or treatment in the event of illness. Far too often a doctor is consulted too late. In poor countries, for example, tooth decay is still a premature cause of death because people cannot afford a toothbrush or toothpaste. We want to counteract this. After all, preventive healthcare and dental hygiene are very important so that children can grow up carefree and go to school without pain.
Our goal: Regular health check-ups, dental care and medical treatment if necessary for children and their parents
ora Kinderhilfe working for basic health care
- Training to reduce sources of danger (minimize risk of injury, risk of infection from mosquitoes)
- Medical treatment by mobile health teams, e.g. for injuries, malaria, diarrheal diseases
- Distribution of toothbrushing utensils and regular training on dental care and oral hygiene for children and parents
- Financing semi-annual dental visits to our schools

Promoting girls' hygiene
Every day, around 800 million girls and women worldwide have their period. Hundreds of thousands of them are excluded from social life during this time. Prejudice, stigma and shame still define the way women deal with their periods today. Many girls stay away from school during their period. Hygiene products are either unavailable or unaffordable for them.
Our goal: All girls can go to school regularly, obtain a school-leaving certificate and can later provide for themselves with dignity.
ora Kinderhilfe working for girls' hygiene:
- Regular distribution of reusable hygiene products
- Sewing courses for girls and women so that they can sew their own sanitary towels
- Hygiene training for women
