148 million children under the age of five are undernourished. 8,000 children die every day as a result of malnutrition and undernourishment. We are committed to food security and the fight against hunger (Goal 2 of the SGDs).
Hunger is a constant companion for millions of people. It poses an acute health risk and hinders their development. Infants and children are particularly at risk: chronic malnutrition at an early age has lifelong physical and psychological consequences.
When food is no longer available or affordable and poverty is increasing, children have to contribute to the livelihood. This means that they work instead of going to school, girls are married off early and, in the worst cases, children are sold to human traffickers.
A large proportion of ora Kinderhilfe's projects are aimed at ensuring food security. A healthy and balanced diet forms the basis for good physical, mental and emotional development. Well-fed children grow and learn better. They are better able to cope with illness and help shape their environment.
In our projects, we support people in implementing long-term measures to combat the causes of hunger through their own efforts.
Together with the local communities, we Lagribusiness projectebuild wells and greenhouses, ensure sustainable sustainable storage and cooling facilities-possibilitiesfor harvests and train the farmers on climate-adapted cultivation methods. In uour nutritioncenters and care program and the chicken, pig and goat farms and nutritionscenters promote healthy nutrition nutrition for children and families. We educate parents and children aboutwhat it means of healthy food to pay attention to. We help to prevent malnutrition and contribute to the preservation of health. The children in our projects receive a nutritious and healthy meal every day.
