History of Ibrahim

"I like the school lunch."

Ibrahim lives in the fishing village of Makaimba in Sierra Leone. He is 12 years old and goes to school there. ora Kinderhilfe has built a school in his village. All the children in the village are now fed and some of the women in the village earn some money by preparing the meals. The children have been given everything they need to learn and are now taught regularly by four teachers.

"I I go to the school every morning, which looks very nice and is now finished. ora Kinderhilfe gives me school books, pens, exercise books and shoes. They bought these for all the children here. My shoes are blue, I really like them. But the best thing is that we can eat at school every day. At lunchtime, we all line up and get lunch. Since then, I've never been as hungry as I used to be.
My mom usually doesn't have enough money to buy enough food for my brother and me. We only ever eat dinner at home, usually rice and beans. I can only eat twice a day because I go to school. I like the food, it tastes good and fills me up."

But there is still a lot to do in Makaimba. There is a lack of drinking water, food, toilets and space in the village. Fifteen to twenty people share one hut to sleep in. The hygienic conditions are precarious. Bacterial infections find an ideal breeding ground; malaria and cholera spread regularly.
All this is made possible by an ora sponsorship. Ibrahim has found a sponsor and can now grow up well-fed and healthy.

Many more children are still waiting for help. Become a sponsor now and change children's lives!
